Try the API request Quote first, then run

1. Check the price

Use your TaskFuel API key as TASKFUEL_API_KEY in your terminal or server. Keep it out of browser code. This request checks the price without paying.

The exact request used in the dated example.

curl --fail-with-body https://app.taskfuel.ai/v1/call \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $TASKFUEL_API_KEY" \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \

  },
  "dryRun": true
}

2. Run the request

Review amount_usd in the quote. To pay and run, change dryRun to false and add maxAmountUsd with that approved amount inside the same JSON object. Keep the inputs unchanged; this limit applies to one call.

3. Read the result

Read line_type_intelligence.carrier_name and line_type_intelligence.type. A valid flag is separate from line_status, caller identity and whether a message can be received.

Good Questions.

What does the carrier lookup API return?

The tested response contained carrier name, country, formatted number and line type. It classified the example number as fixedVoip.

Is a valid number necessarily reachable?

The validity flag was true while line_status was null. This test establishes returned formatting and line-type data, with no message or call placed.

Does this identify the owner or detect fraud?

Identity match, caller name, SIM swap and risk fields were empty in this response. The page demonstrates carrier and line type only.

When is Twilio’s direct API a better fit?

Twilio lists Line Type Intelligence at $0.008 per request, below this TaskFuel test’s $0.011 charge. Its direct API suits a dedicated integration with Twilio credentials. Canadian numbers require separate NPAC approval for this data.

What did the carrier lookup cost?

The example cost $0.011 on 6 November 2026. Your agent shows the price for your own request before it pays.

Do I need a separate carrier-data account?

No. Your agent pays from your TaskFuel balance, so there is nothing else to sign up for.
