1. Check the price

Use your TaskFuel API key as TASKFUEL_API_KEY in your terminal or server. Keep it out of browser code. This request checks the price without paying.

The exact request used in the dated example.

curl --fail-with-body https://app.taskfuel.ai/v1/call \

2. Run the request

Review amount_usd in the quote. To pay and run, change dryRun to false and add maxAmountUsd with that approved amount inside the same JSON object. Keep the inputs unchanged; this limit applies to one call.

3. Read the result

Read data.items[].source, title, authors, doi and url. limit is per source. data.meta.errors reports partial source failures; citationCount and pdfUrl may be null. This request does not query Google Scholar.

Good Questions.

Does this example return Google Scholar results?

No. The TaskFuel example on this page uses 2s to search arXiv and PubMed. For Google Scholar’s own result ordering and citation features, the direct options above query that index.

What does a direct Google Scholar API offer?

SerpApi documents Google Scholar queries, publication-year filters, cited-by searches and version clusters. These are distinct from the cross-index paper search shown here.

Can I use a free tool?

scholarly is free Python software for Google Scholar metadata. You run and maintain it. SerpApi also lists 250 free monthly searches on its direct account plan.

Why were six records returned with a limit of three?

The 2s endpoint applies the limit per source. Three arXiv and three PubMed records came back; the response reported a rate limit for Semantic Scholar.

Does metadata include the full paper?

The tested records included titles, authors, source links and sometimes abstracts or PDF links. Citation counts were empty; full article text was not extracted.

What did the TaskFuel paper search cost?

The separate cross-index example cost $0.006 on 6 November 2026. Your agent shows the price for your own request before it pays.
