# Price comparison API

Read the offer behind the price.

Give your agent a product name and get listings with seller names and prices. Our mouse search returned Mac and Business variants as well as the standard model.

One dated shopping search. Listings can differ by version, condition or seller; checkout prices and stock were not tested.

Provider in the worked example: Munition / Serper.

Price shown for this route: 0.4¢ per search.

## Choose how to read retailer offers.

Both options return shopping data. A search result is a dated offer, with its own seller and product variant.

Prices and access checked on 6 November 2026.

| Option | Price and billing | Strength | Good to know | Access |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |

## Try the API request

Use your TaskFuel API key as TASKFUEL_API_KEY in your terminal or server. Keep it out of browser code.

### 1. Check the price

This request checks the price without paying. The exact request used in the dated example.

```sh
curl --fail-with-body https://app.taskfuel.ai/v1/call \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $TASKFUEL_API_KEY" \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  --data-binary @- <<'TASKFUEL_REQUEST'
{
  "url": "https://api.munition.io/v1/serper/shopping",
  "method": "POST",
  "body": {
    "q": "Logitech MX Master 3S",
    "gl": "us",
    "hl": "en",
    "num": 5
  },
  "dryRun": true
}
TASKFUEL_REQUEST
```

### 2. Run the request

Review amount_usd in the quote. To pay and run, change dryRun to false and add maxAmountUsd with that approved amount inside the same JSON object. Keep the inputs unchanged; this limit applies to one call.

### 3. Read the result

Read shopping[].title, source, price and link. Compare the model and seller fields before treating listings as the same product. Prices are returned strings.

## Connect your agent

Read the [setup guide](https://taskfuel.ai/docs/setup/) and choose the connection your agent supports.

Use one TaskFuel account and prepaid balance. Inspect the provider and request quote before a paid call, then review the returned response and recorded charge.

## When to use it

### Put the seller next to the price.

Your agent can bring the returned offer names and prices into a purchasing brief.

### Separate Mac and Business listings.

Your agent reads the model name before grouping offers from different sellers.

## Questions

### What does the price comparison API return?

Product listings with seller, price and source links. Our test also returned ratings and product identifiers.

### Does the lowest listed price mean the same product?

The $57.00 result was a Mac version. Business versions appeared too. The response supplies offer data; an identical-SKU match was not established.

### Does this include checkout prices or price history?

This example is one shopping snapshot. Taxes, final checkout totals, stock and historical prices were not tested.

### When is a direct search account a better fit?

SerpApi includes 250 free monthly searches and paid search plans. A direct account can fit regular use of its Google Shopping API; TaskFuel uses your existing balance for a request within a larger task.

### What did the shopping search cost?

The example cost $0.004 on 6 November 2026. Your agent shows the price for your own request before it pays.

### Do I need a separate provider account?

No. Your agent pays from your TaskFuel balance, so there is nothing else to sign up for.
