## Try the API request

Use your TaskFuel API key as TASKFUEL_API_KEY in your terminal or server. Keep it out of browser code.

### 1. Check the price

This request checks the price without paying. The exact request used in the dated example.

```sh
curl --fail-with-body https://app.taskfuel.ai/v1/call \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $TASKFUEL_API_KEY" \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  --data-binary @- <<'TASKFUEL_REQUEST'
{
  "url": "https://2s.io/api/job/federal-search?jobCategoryCode=2210&resultsPerPage=3&sortField=OpenDate&sortDirection=Desc",
  "method": "GET",
  "dryRun": true
}
TASKFUEL_REQUEST
```

### 2. Run the request

Review amount_usd in the quote. To pay and run, change dryRun to false and add maxAmountUsd with that approved amount inside the same JSON object. Keep the inputs unchanged; this limit applies to one call.

### 3. Read the result

Read data.items[].title, organization, locations, payScales, applicationClose and uri. The jobCategoryCode filter selects an occupational series. The source announcement contains hiring-path eligibility.

## Connect your agent

Read the [setup guide](https://taskfuel.ai/docs/setup/) and choose the connection your agent supports.

Use one TaskFuel account and prepaid balance. Inspect the provider and request quote before a paid call, then review the returned response and recorded charge.

## When to use it

### Keep the announcement with the role.

Your agent can place title, agency, location and source link in a short role brief.

### Read salary and deadline fields together.

The dated response keeps the listed pay range and closing date next to each role. Eligibility remains in the original announcement.

## Questions

### What does this job search API example cover?

US federal government postings from USAJOBS. The test requested job series 2210 and returned three IT roles. Other hiring data sources have different coverage.

### Does it search every private-sector job board?

This example uses the federal feed. A broad private-sector index such as TheirStack is a different data source, with its own coverage and pricing.

### Does an open posting mean anyone can apply?

Each announcement has eligibility and qualification requirements. The first test result included restricted hiring paths; its application link carries those details.

### Can I use USAJOBS directly?

Yes. USAJOBS documents a direct Job Search API with API-key authentication. The source announcement is also readable on its public website.

### Does this submit applications?

The tested operation reads postings and returns application links. No application was submitted.

### What did the job search cost?

The federal search cost $0.003 on 6 November 2026. Your agent shows the price for your own request before it pays.
