# Setting up taskfuel

> Three alternative ways in. Pick **exactly one**, the first of them you are actually capable of. Read only that document, and tell the user which you picked.

They are alternatives, not steps. Setting up a second way to reach the same account in the same environment leaves duplicate tools that do the same thing, two connections to keep signed in, and nothing obvious to fix when a call goes wrong.

- [CLI setup](https://app.taskfuel.ai/setup/cli.md): Preferred. For any environment where you can run shell commands: the shell moves request and response payloads as files, which tool calls cannot.
- [MCP setup](https://app.taskfuel.ai/setup/mcp.md): For a client where you cannot run shell commands but can add a remote MCP server yourself.
- [Manual setup](https://app.taskfuel.ai/setup/manual.md): For clients that only take MCP servers through their own settings UI: ChatGPT, Claude on the web, Open WebUI, n8n. The user does it; you hand over the URL.

Once one of them works, go to [Using taskfuel](https://app.taskfuel.ai/using.md).
